I did go get an emery cat. So far two of the three have used it.

That must have been quite a sight!

Ok, so remember I mentioned that my cat was pulling out hair on his back ? Dh thought that maybe he was hot and we should take him for a hair cut. Dd called the place I take the dog and they gave him a Lion cut. He looks ridiculous. I thought they were just going to trim him, but apparently they couldn't do that. I didn't pick him up, dd did.

Oooohhh...I'd ask you to post pictures of him but I'm sure he runs and hides in shame at the sight of a camera.

I'm really tempted to go take elvis to get a lion cut. He's orange and fluffy so I'm sure he'd look ridiculous.

Spiffy looks loved. What a wonder! That cat is something else.

We discovered the truth of my observations, Felix is a shredder and Lindy Hop is a chewer. So we have a regular team going, to effectively handle junk mail in the future.

I'm waiting for the pictures of Spiffy in a lion cut.

I can wait patiently. I've been trained by cats, you know.

He is adorable!!

I am lovin' the photo of Spiffster with his head lifted toward the sun. Reminds me of a line from a Trisha Yearwood song: "When the spotlight finds you and singles you out."

Sounds a lot like Simon's Cat and the box.

And then there's An Engineer's Guide to Cats.

Thanks, guys :) Spiffy does look amazing now! He's gotten so soft and fluffy, his eye infection is practically gone. Now we're just dealing with a small infection in one of his ears and a stubborn kitty cold (but that's gotten a lot better).

He's doubled in weight in one month, he weighs about 3lbs now.

Unless something happens, I doubt we'll get a lion cut on him :P

Spiffy does love to lay in the sunshine on days that aren't really hot. I love that photo of him tilting his head up to the sun, too.

Haha those videos are hilarious!

Mean little kitty reminds me of elvis.

Boo and I were discussing getting Elvis a lion cut. I'm going to call the pet groomer to see how much it would be.

I'll be sure to post some photos if I do end up getting him one.

In other news - Callie has this gross section of hair on her tail. it's like matted and oily and I have no idea what it's from or how to tackle it. Any ideas? She's never had problems with her coat before she got fixed, but now it's just so different.

Cat fighting has been decreasing. I pet and feed Callie before Elvis and that seems to have helped. Will keep you updated on the kitty wars.

Reba, they sell cats at garage sales?

No - they were just giving them away.

How could a cat thread get this long without me knowing about it?

Maybe I have posted, my memory isn't what it used to be.

My Bumper and Smoky Watson each turned 15 this July. That is 75 in human years (the same age as my mother, and I remind her of it).

Bumper is very active, full of pep, and not afraid of anything. Smoky stays on the glassed/screened porch 23.5 hours per day and finds the sunniest spot even if the temperature is in the 90s. His appetite is good though.

ETA: I have posted here, the name thread name change fooled me.

I hope my cats live to be 15 or older.

I don't know what's going on with Henry. Since we got him fixed nearly 4 weeks ago he's been getting more dominating with the other cats as well as Spiffy. He'll be laying down and acting calm and sleepy, then he'll begin staring at one of the cats and suddenly he'll run at the one he's been staring at, grab it and begin biting that one on the neck. When the cat he's attacking runs, Henry runs after it and continues the attack.

It never escalates into a huge fight, thankfully. I am concerned that he'll be too rough with the kitten and hurt him, so we keep those two separated. Whenever I see Henry doing this, I put him outside. The other cats give Henry a wide berth.

We're going to have to try Laura's suggestions for Callie and Elvis, I think.

Love the Simon's Cat videos, especially the one where kitty is trying to get his owner up to feed him and the situation escalates until the cat hits the guy with a baseball bat. The cat toys scattered all around the guy's bed and the holes torn in his mattress from kitty scratching especially make me laugh.

I was watching some cat videos on Youtube and ran across this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qWBQGD1EY0 This was an abandoned kitten that the owner adopted after he found it outside his apartment building in Beijing. Cute little guy!

I looked into a lion cut for elvis and it's.....$61!!!!!!

That's more than what I pay to get my hair done all fancy (cut, color, and highlight)!

Maybe Boo and I will just have to try to do it ourselves?

Other than for medical reasons or really matted hair why would you cut the beautiful hair of a cat? Did you know that their coats are their insulation against heat and cold?
