Why ever would you want to sweat more? There is no physical benefit to that. I do suspect that by wearing a plastic shirt you aren't sweating more, the sweat just has nowhere to go. You will often see runners at the start of a race wearing a garbage bag. This is only to provide a bit of additional warmth as once they get moving they will warm up and not need additional layers.

the plastic outfit is one that you get at a sporting good store, it is pants and a long sleeve shirt, well when i say shirt i mean the form of a shirt, I was told it will help burn more calories faster like sitting in a sauna at the ymca, wasn't sure i have not tryed it, that is why i was asking..i have not done any research on this. a friend of mine had bought the outfit and was trying it out and he was sharing with me his reason as to why, it was to burn more calories, i have know idea as to how sweating more would help with this ...i suppose i should have done some checking on my on but thanks anyway... be good

2nd run ( ha ha) this week. I like the 405's small size better but this one's working now so I am not going to replace it yet.

Ds1 is using my old garmin 301. Works pretty well, althugh not quite as accurate as newer devices. I have a 305, which is a bit better. I like it and doubt I will replace it until it dies. Ds1 and I had a great run this morning! The bike path is FINALLY snow and ice free! I'm not used to running with him and we ran too hard. We should have been around a 9:00 pace, but ended up doing the 7miles at 8:30pace. Ops...

Today is my first outdoor run. I am so excited. It is warmer (upper 40's) and my husband is going to meet and play with the kids. I am hoping to do 5 miles. I did 7 miles on the treadmill last Sunday and 5 miles has been my normal run. I really think I am going to be so much happier running outside. The only problem is childcare and I think I have that worked out.

Surpassing--how old are your kids? There are ways to get creative with child care! Is there a track nearby? Some have a sandpit for long jump. Or bring a ball and let them play on the field. Do you have a bike path? Let them ride their bikes while you run. Giggles--I have too many long sleeve shirts! Short sleeve and tank tops too. I find most of mine at the thrift store. My coach worked with me in the fishbowl today. She doesn't think I'm hopeless! But, after seeing me swim, she has a whole bunch of new drills fro me. Tomorrow is a long ride (2hrs), Sunday a team run. Fartleks. Should be fun! She usually invites spouses, but since ds1 is training with me, she's invited him. Should be good for him to run wiht some faster guys!

Surpassing--yah, you are in a difficult season! When my kids were little (4 boys, now 17, 15, 13 and 11yo) I wasnt' a runner, but I did long distance bicycling. Training for a spring 2-day 210mile tour had to be creative... I did far too many hours with the bike on a trainer in the basement. Late at night or stupid early in the morning. Long rides were on the weekends when dh could watch the kids. I would get in minimal training just to survive. Now that the kids are older and I actually train with ds1, I get more time to train. The team practice yesterday went poorly. Because the loop around the lake is still snow/ice covered we ended up doing hill repeats. I ended up falling way off the back. Coach said to do three repeats. The leaders were finishing as I was starting the third. To add insult to injury as I finished my third, coach told us to do a fourth. Then a 10min cool down. I got back and coach was already half way through her post workout meeting. Quite humbling. Coach had invited ds1 and he did very well. So I guess there was some good.

I took my quasi-injured foot out yesterday for a slow run of nearly three miles. There were some twingy moments, but it was fine for the most part and I actually had less pain today than I did before I ran. Go figure. Everything is melted here and it's in the 50s...woohoo!

hdsnprry--there is no "perfect" shoe. It really depends on your feet, how you run, and where you run. You need to go to a running store (not a sporting goods store!). They should look at your shoes for wear pattern, talk with you about your running habits, and watch you run. THEN, they should start having you try on shoes. If they don't offer to do that, then take your feet elsewhere! Warmer temps here, too! Shorts and short sleeves!!! Ds1 and I went for a run on the bike path yesterday. Today was a swim and bike. Tomorrow is another run. It's a speed workout so I'll probably do it on the track.
