stella--bummer about the ankle! But sounds like you had a good race none the less! And yes, I have raced without my garmin. I did a little half marathon. Miles were not marked, so I was clueless where I was, how long I had been out there, etc. Hardest race I've ever done! Ds1 and I did a long run together yesterday. We had to drive over to another neighborhood to find pavement. We did the first 3 loops together, then I did a fourth solo. 7.5 for him, 10 for me.

I got a 4 mile run in this morning. Was so nice to have some light showing when I got back to the house... I hate running in the dark.

Anyone want to take a guess at what's wrong with my foot? It turns out the injury is not to my ankle. It's on the outer part of my foot and about an inch further forward. It only hurts when I walk, not when I poke and prod. There is no bruising or swelling. I'm taking anti-inflammatories and I am wearing a compression bandage. I think if it hasn't improved in a few days I might make an appointment to see my doctor. I don't, however, think a doctor will tell me anything other than to not run on it, which I'm not doing. <shrug>

Ran 4 miles this morning. I might try another 10K on Sat. we'll see. Had a run in with a skunk this morning on the home stretch. I'm just glad I didn't meet him on my way out because it was still dark... I never would have seen him until it was to late.

Fritz--no worries about not seeing a skunk. Last summer I woke during the night and couldn't get back to sleep. I figured I'd just sit on the deck for awhile. I stepped outside and was assaulted by the strong odor of a skunk. I figured one had gotten hit on the road and we'd be smelling it for awhile. Needless to say, I decided to not sit on the deck! The next morning I stepped outside. Huh. No odor of skunk. That coudl only mean one thing--I was face-to-face with a live skunk!

I have recently started cycling 5 miles every other day. Granted its not running, and granted 5 miles is not much, but darn my appetite has sky rocketed. I wasnt expecting this much of an appetite increase. My appetite is not even this high when i work out.

grace--welcome!!! 5miles is a start! Have you changed your eating habits? You are right, you shouldn't have that much of an appetite increase. You should have three main meals with one or two snacks. Also, sometimes you can feel hungry when actually you are thirsty.

I had something interesting happen last Sat. when I was on my 6 mile run. At about 4.5 miles or so I felt a sudden flush of heat and all of a sudden my energy just jumped. It felt like I could have run faster but I held it back because I didn't want to deplete my energy and mess up my goal. Unfortunately it only lasted for about 10 minutes or so. I'm guessing it was from the CLIF bar I ate 30 min. before I left on my run. If it was... I wanna eat more CLIF bars. *chuckles*

Ran 5 miles today. With all the wind and some other muscle cramps in my back it wasn't an easy run.

I don't go for those Clif/Luna/etc. Most of them are no different than a candy bar. My favorite workout is to ride to the lake (12miles), swim for 60mins or so, then ride home. I stick a frozen Reeces candybar in my bag and it's perfect for after my swim! I did my long run today. It stunk! We've had more snow so ds1 and I were stuck with a 2.6m loop around another neighborhood. We did it 4 times. This was ds1's first time doing double digits! He's thinking about doing the half marathon with me in April.

Mmm...blueberry...delicious... I'm gonna have to try one. I perused a couple dozen Clif/Luna bars and there are a few that have similar calories/protein/carbs as the PowerBar I choke down pre-race. I'm definitely willing to try one. Most, though, are high-calorie and too much sugar. (But still probably super delicious.)
